(More customer reviews)For the price, this is a decent stand. I'm the type who reads instructions and all the manuals that come with products I purchase. This came with no instructions. It wasn't difficult to assemble, but the lower base that is inserted into the lower tube was a bit tricky to initially get inserted properly. One then needs to place the guitar on the stand in order to figure out the best height for the long tubular piece that is inserted into the base. Once assembled, the stand seems like it will be a good, inexpensive support for one's guitar. I very much like the piece that locks across the top of the guitar stand in front of the neck--it's an extra bit of safety to prevent the guitar from falling forward out of the stand. This is a hard to beat price for a good stand.

I tried going to the maker's website for instructions and Stagg Music site wouldn't load--even after several attempts? Again, figuring out how to assemble it is easy and shouldn't pose a problem for anyone.

Ingles Ingles Adjustable Cello and Bass Stand Review

(More customer reviews)This is a fantastic stand and well worth the $41.55 price tag.Here are a few things I considered when looking for a cello stand and how this product matched up:

1) Sturdiness and instrument security

With a cello or string bass, this is priority one.I wanted to make sure neither the stand itself nor the cello's position in the stand would wobble or tip with an accidental jostle.No disappointment here.The base is comprised of two tubes about 1.5 ft long set about 2 ft wide when extended and the height of the padded supports on the base are adjustable.I set mine as far down as possible to lower the center of gravity of my cello.With the adjustable locking neck support, you get a surprisingly solid setup.This is about as secure of a cello stand as you can get short of a wooden box stand.

2) Bow holder

One of the biggest problems with cello and bass stands is the lack of bow storage.This stand has a fold-out rubber-padded hook on the back of the neck to place your bow.Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done.

3) Aesthetic appeal

I'll be honest, one of the reasons I invested in a stand was to show my cello off so having a stand that wouldn't detract from my cello was a must.For the most part, when the cello is in position, the stand is inconspicuous except for the neck support.When the locking mechanism on the neck is in place, it's hard not to notice, but it's a small price to pay for stability.The stand is colored in neutral grays and blacks so the stand itself isn't much to look at, but it hides itself well next to my cello, which is exactly what I wanted it to do.

Final thoughts:

I thought about buying a box stand, but the idea of spending $150-$200 on something with such a rudimentary function and the fact that the box itself would hide half of the cello's body from view were turn-offs.Converted (i.e. larger) guitar A-frame stands seemed unstable and unsuited for something as large and as delicate as a cello or bass.In the end, this stand was the only one that made any sense.It looks great, it's designed with the cello/bass in mind, it won't put a giant hole in your wallet, and it's rock solid when set up properly.If you're looking for a cello stand, this is the one you want.

Ultra 2445BK Guitar Stand (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)This is a really excellent value for a guitar stand. Because if it's light weight, I'm not sure that I would recommend it in heavy traffic areas or on a stage floor with bandmates jumping all around it. However, when resting during practice by yourself or with friends, this nifty tripod does the job, and the two-one color scheme (black metal overall, with a tawny colored large-U rest for the guitar's bottom and a tawny U-shaped holder for the middle of the neck)is understated but stylish.

Even with the relative light weight, the stand can easily hold a very heavy aluminum neck Kramer bass made 25 or more years ago when heavy was "in." Make sure that you extend the three tripod legs all the way out and up, or it simply won't work. The tripod, the overall design and fairly low center of gravity, and a backwards tilt combine to give good stability. There's some play in the bottom U-holder, this goes away when you place your instrument on it. If necessary, you can manually separate the stand into three pieces for storage or transport.

(More customer reviews)This stand works like a charm--holds guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, etc. etc--anything with a neck and peghead.Adjusts easily and securely.Has an elastic strap to keep instrument from falling out of the suspension fork, but I've never found it necessary to use.

Folds into a nicely compact form, and it's sturdy enough, but its chief virtue is that it suspends the instrument by the peghead (sorry, you post-moderns who play the "headless" guitars) and doesn't have the bottom bracket to get tangled in the strap when you need to change instruments quickly.

One caution--depending on the shape of the peghead and placement of your machine heads you may find that the suspension fork can nudge the tuning pegs.I haven't found it a problem, but if you have a banjo, for instance, with easy-turning planetary tuners, you might need to be careful in "hanging" the instrument.
