(More customer reviews)For the price, this is a decent stand. I'm the type who reads instructions and all the manuals that come with products I purchase. This came with no instructions. It wasn't difficult to assemble, but the lower base that is inserted into the lower tube was a bit tricky to initially get inserted properly. One then needs to place the guitar on the stand in order to figure out the best height for the long tubular piece that is inserted into the base. Once assembled, the stand seems like it will be a good, inexpensive support for one's guitar. I very much like the piece that locks across the top of the guitar stand in front of the neck--it's an extra bit of safety to prevent the guitar from falling forward out of the stand. This is a hard to beat price for a good stand.

I tried going to the maker's website for instructions and Stagg Music site wouldn't load--even after several attempts? Again, figuring out how to assemble it is easy and shouldn't pose a problem for anyone.

(More customer reviews)I'm a bit paranoid about my guitars.While I'm not a wealthy man, I've managed to get my hands on a few very nice custom instruments.If I leave them locked away in their traveling cases, they're safe but inaccessible.

Having an instrument in easy reach, makes it much more likely you'll pick up the instrument and use it.The problem is how to keep the guitar handy, without subjecting it to damage.If you have no pets or small children, youmight try a floor stand.Personally, I'm a klutz and would probably trip over it at night, so hanging up on a wall makes more sense, and gets it out of harms way.I've looked at quite a few wall hangers.Most of them are plastic, or have cheap mounting plates, or various little gimmicks.This is a very simple steel hook that inserts into a solid cast base.It's strong and dependable.The hooks hold my instruments securely, and the padding insures the finish isn't marred.They're the best I've found, and I won't trust anything less with my babies.

The manufacturer isn't kidding about neck width.The narrow fits a standard six string like a glove.If you play a wide-format neck like a 12 string or a classical, order this model.Because it's built from very heavy steel, you're not going to just "bend it to fit".

Ultra 2445BK Guitar Stand (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)This is a really excellent value for a guitar stand. Because if it's light weight, I'm not sure that I would recommend it in heavy traffic areas or on a stage floor with bandmates jumping all around it. However, when resting during practice by yourself or with friends, this nifty tripod does the job, and the two-one color scheme (black metal overall, with a tawny colored large-U rest for the guitar's bottom and a tawny U-shaped holder for the middle of the neck)is understated but stylish.

Even with the relative light weight, the stand can easily hold a very heavy aluminum neck Kramer bass made 25 or more years ago when heavy was "in." Make sure that you extend the three tripod legs all the way out and up, or it simply won't work. The tripod, the overall design and fairly low center of gravity, and a backwards tilt combine to give good stability. There's some play in the bottom U-holder, this goes away when you place your instrument on it. If necessary, you can manually separate the stand into three pieces for storage or transport.

(More customer reviews)This stand works like a charm--holds guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, etc. etc--anything with a neck and peghead.Adjusts easily and securely.Has an elastic strap to keep instrument from falling out of the suspension fork, but I've never found it necessary to use.

Folds into a nicely compact form, and it's sturdy enough, but its chief virtue is that it suspends the instrument by the peghead (sorry, you post-moderns who play the "headless" guitars) and doesn't have the bottom bracket to get tangled in the strap when you need to change instruments quickly.

One caution--depending on the shape of the peghead and placement of your machine heads you may find that the suspension fork can nudge the tuning pegs.I haven't found it a problem, but if you have a banjo, for instance, with easy-turning planetary tuners, you might need to be careful in "hanging" the instrument.
