(More customer reviews)This is a very nice strap, and the idea of a design that is a tribute to SRV is the thing that caught my eye, and got me to buy it. However, this is not at all like the one SRV actually wore. It is a different kind of strap altogether. It is inaccurate to say this strap is "just like the one SRV wore", for example, because it is not. The artwork on this strap is reminiscent of the artwork on SRV's straps (one of which was black with white notes and one of which was white with black notes, as this one is). Priced as other straps of this style, but a little better in that it has the nice artwork, and not just a plain leather strap.

(More customer reviews)I bougut the Jam Kat so that I could switch quickly between playing guitar and keyboard, and then back again.This product allows me to do that seamlessly.It works very well.It is made of two molded plastic pieces and a spring.The only small problem I have with it is that I tend to grip my pick a little tighter than I should, and that sometimes pushes the pick out of the holder.Obviously, that could cause problems, but I'm learning to grip a little looser and that fixed the problem.Overall....very good product!

EMG P Actve Bass Pickup, Black Review

(More customer reviews)these guys replaced the stock pick-ups in a Mexican P-Bass a couple weeks ago.I play tuned town a whole step, with round-wound steel strings.the output is much higher, of course, and I can get notes to sustain forever.remember that scene in Spinal Tap with Nigel's Les Pauls?that's kind of what I'm talking about here.and the low-end is very strong.
BUT.the tone is very flat.not much happening in the high-end, even when I crank the graphic EQ on my head (a Peavy Mark VIII, for the record).I mean, the higher notes come through as strong as any of them, the tone quality is just very dull and very round-sounding.I'm thinking of replacing my volume pot with a DiMarzio 1meg and see if that does anything.

Dean Edge 8-String Bass, Active Electronics, Classic Black Review

(More customer reviews)So, I decided to buy an 8-string and learn how to play it, since I was already uver-used to playing the 4-string. You know,I wanted that high-end dominance that the 8-string provides.
This bass does all of that, and has active pickups to boot. Not that they are particularly the best active pickups (the battery dies out a little early for my tastes), but they get the job done - and can blast the hell out of a sound system with an impressive overdrive knob.
The tone is really good, by all means. Unlike the Schecter Stilletto 8, the first few frets don't buzz when you use them, and the thing maintains the octave-harmonics effect even when you use tapping or slapping effects. The strings feel really good on the fingers, and it's no problem to slide while keeping an even sound. The only problem I have is that, if one tries to use an octave string alone, it will not sound off as highly as the fat strings, which makes it a little less fun.

I would say that this is a worthwhile buy for those just starting on the 8-string, because it is reliable, has one of the best sound-qualities, and fits a good budget at $500.
