(More customer reviews)I have been taking lessons for the last 3 months.At 58 years old I doubt if I'll make it on the road.I can say this is a great guitar. The tones are deep, rich and clean. It also is a very player friendly guitar.Stings are very easy to connect with the frets.I found and bought it used but it appears to be in mint condition. I would highly recommend it to either the beginner or to the master.I like it very much.
As I stated I have only taken 3 months of lessons so consideration has to be taken when you check on out.Thanks and have a great day.

Boulder Creek EBR3-N4 Acoustic-Electric 4-String Bass Review

(More customer reviews)The Boulder Creek bass is by far the best acoustic bass I have ever played. I have never played a Tocoma Thunder Chief (widely regarded as one of the best acoustic basses) but I have played most of the usual suspects like Martin, Dean, Ibanez, Michael Kelly, Takamine. This bass has huge tone and the whole body just sings when you play. The side sound hole is great but really the whole thing just sings in all directions so I don't find myself hunching over the guitar to get a clear sense of what I am playing. It came strung with DAddario Nickel Wound Electric stings and even with electric stings it was much louder and better sounding than other bass I have played. I have Thomastik-Infeld Acousticoreson it now (If you have not tried acousticores do some research on them they are soft to the touch and a have a wonderful and unique bass tone) and it is truly a joy to play. I have not had the opportunity to jam with a guitarist yet but it seems that with the DAddarios on it I would have no problem keeping up with a guitar, and even with the Acouticores I think it could keep up. Though I might have to play with a pick.
This beautiful guitar has excellent craftsmanship and I find the natural finish very attractive. I really can not say enough good things about this bass it truly is an addictive joy to play. I love it!

Offering a combination of traditional materials and high-tech design, this 4-string acoustic-electric bass guitar from Boulder Creek (model EBR3-N4) enables you to hear your playing without plugging it in. The side port on the top projects the deep tones from the body directly to the player while the additional front port shoots the low frequencies towards the audience. When plugged in, it keeps the same natural tone with much less feedback than other acoustic electric basses.



All Boulder Creek guitars feature solid tops, solid backs, and laminated sides for strength and durability. The EBR3-N4 uses Boulder Creek's Solitaire body, which employs the Suspended Bracing System (SBS). A departure from the traditional X-brace, the SBS employs a pair of parallel aluminum braces that are anchored at three points under the top, but are otherwise suspended like a pair of towel racks. This allows the top to vibrate more freely, improving projection. The area of the top is also greater, with a soundhole the size of half-dollar and a large oval port on the side, dramatically improving bass response.

It's also equipped with the AB4-T Active Balanced Acoustic System with on-board tuner. The specially designed cable-type saddle transducer reduces the "clunk" that is inherent in traditional piezo pickup systems. The AB4-T System also feature both balanced and unbalanced outputs for maximum signal and noise reduction in both stage and studio applications.

(More customer reviews)Having owned this bass two months now I can say it is a great bass for the money. it has a nice tone, the fretwork is good all the way up and down the neck, and plugged in as well as acoustic it has a nice clean warm sound. I was actually surprised that an acoustic bass this cheap would be well made, but from the internal bracing to the bound body I can't seem to find any flaws. For those wanting a good bass to play unplugged on in a coffee house setting you really can't go wrong. oh and you can't see in the pics but has has BOTH HI-Z AND LOW-Z outputs, which makes it great for running straight into a soundboard. It is little touches like that that makes this Rogue a real charmer.

Dean Edge 4 Fretless Bass, Trans Amber Review

(More customer reviews)I love everything about my new Dean Edge 4 fretless bass. I no longer have that fret buzz, and it has a knob that can turn it way down to bass if I like, or not depending on the kind of music. I love the color of the wood, the feel of the body against my own body, the smooth to rumbly sounds, the freedom to hit the notes exactly (you cannot do that on a regular fretted bass). And I love being able to slide smoothly up and down the neck without fretsgetting in the way.

It did take me a couple of weeks just messing around, playing on it to train my ears and get used to how to hit the notes right. At first I was kind of sloppy, but don't give up because once you get the hang of it you are in heaven.

This is my first fretless and I just love it. Not for someone who does not have ears trained to hear a scale. In order to use this or any fretless bass, you have to know by ear if you are hitting a little sharp or flat. There are markers on the neck which do help, but ... I wouldn't think of getting any other bass right now, I am having so much fun with this one.

(More customer reviews)I have searched far and wide for an acoustic bass that has good tone, volume, clarity and warmth. These basses have all four. I really just love these basses, the tone is just fantastic. The volume is way way better than other basses I have tried, largely due to the suspended bracing that lets the top move like a speaker cone. You can get a lot of volume if you really dig in, but it also has a great dynamic range you can get great tone playing soft and the harder you dig in the bigger the tone. These basses really sing and are a pleasure to play. They are by far the best I have found for less than $1000. Highly Highly recommended.

Dean Acoustic-Electric Bass Fretless Satin Finish Review

This Dean fretless bass guitar was beautiful looking in its construction (fit and finish) and it had a somewhat big, satisfying sound acoustically; certainly better than any Michael Kelly or Ibanez acoustic bass at twice the price or more.It also sounded good plugged in.The tuner worked fine.But if you can believe it, the strings on this fretless bass buzzed at the first and second fret positions on the A and E strings.Trussrod adjustments did not remedy the problem.This was because either the trussrod was not working/attached properly, or as I believe, the neck was warped in TWO places: one at the first and second fret area (improper planing of the neck) and the other where the neck/fretboard meets the guitar body.So I returned the product. What a shame - if the manufacturer had only spent a little more time on the quality of the neck this $250 instrument would be a steal!Incidently, the description of this guitar says the body has a "satin finish";it is actually gloss. I returned the guitar.

The EQ isn't much but I not too worried about that anyway 'cause I got it to play acousticly. It has a really nice sound and I can't believe how loud it is even with the b string. Good Bass and is worth the money. I'm Happy with it.

(More customer reviews)This thing shipped so fast, I expected at least a week, it came in like three days! I've had this bass for a couple of months now, and it's really fun. It's my first bass. Though it's not from some famous maker, it still catches the eyes of some of my friends with fancy $600 basses, and according to them, it's a nice bass (: And it really is. Unplugged it's not TOO loud, but it's enough for solo practice. Plug this baby in to an amp and it sounds awesome, the equalizer works nicely too. I guess one thing I would have liked is if there was a strap button on the opposite end, but you could always get one installed at a music shop for not too much money. If you've been interested in getting your first bass, I highly recommend this one. Or even if you already own an electric bass and just want an acoustic to have around, this thing works. I've had so much fun with this bass so far, and I would have to say it was so worth the money spent, which wasn't much!

PS. You might want to tighten the truss rod when you first get it (the tool is included), as the strings can be too loose and vibrate on the fingerboard when you play. After a little tightening, it should sound great. If you don't know how to adjust a truss rod, you could always go on youtube and watch demo videos. But it's really as simple as screwing something in.
