The reinforced sides are basically a sheet of plastic sewn in to the fabric that surrounds the sides of the case (helpful, but not 'heavy-duty' per say)

The ipod pocket is the same basic setup you see on every backpack; a small pocket inside a larger pocket with a small rubber gasket port for headphones.

Again, this case works fine and isn't heavy or painfully ornate like some cases may be, but it's no marvel.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this for my son's guitar (3/4). I like the amount of padding and protection it provides. The accessory pocket does not hold his book, which is relatively thin. I put that under the guitar in the case itself. I would recommend it if you have a 3/4 guitar. It will not fit a full size... I tried mine in it and it did not fit :)

Gator GL-Dread Lightweight Dreadnought Guitar Case Review

(More customer reviews)I have two antique Martins, a dread and a 000, and this soft case is perfect for both. I won't put them in a case that doesn't protect them but I also live a few blocks from one of the venues I play at as well as doing sidewalk performances and need a lightweight enough case to travel by foot. This case passes all my requirements. They do make a smaller case but the 000 doesn't fit and, while this is a dread case, the 000 fits nicely without movement.

The inside is soft and fuzzy and molded to fit the instrument just like a hard case. It closes with two zippers, one from each side that meet at the handle and are secured with a velcro flap.

The case has two pockets, one big enough for a set list notebook and another with netting and zippers on both sides that can carry a small fold up music stand. There's also a roomy inside compartment that's bigger than most hard cases have.

I'd have given it five stars except the straps that come with it aren't the best. The good thing is that they're clipped on to rings attached to the case so that I can easily replace them with better padded straps. Another plus, the rings are placed so that with the straps over my shoulders the top of the case just reaches the back of my head. (Some gig bag/soft cases stand much higher and are hard to go through doorways with besides looking kind of weird.)

I wouldn't take it on an airplane or put it in a bus compartment but for personal travel, it's perfect. If you're looking for a guitar case that also acts as a gig bag with shoulder straps, this is the case for you.
